A hit-and-run accident that occurred over the weekend in Fairfield resulted in the death of a moped driver.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to multiple 911 calls regarding a collision that involved a moped and a vehicle that occurred on Post Road close to South Benson Road during the evening.
The vehicle that was involved reportedly fled the scene before the officers arrived, but both the vehicle and the driver were later located, according to the investigators.
The driver of the moped, who was 25 years old, was reportedly transported to the hospital, but they ultimately succumbed to their injuries and died. However, the identity of the person has not been disclosed as of yet.
The investigation is being conducted by the Fairfield Police Crash Reconstruction Unit. There was a brief closure of the area, but it has since been reopened.
