A woman has been taken into custody in connection with a head-on collision that occurred on Sunday in the northeastern region of Vermont, resulting in the death of one motorcyclist and the serious injury of another.
It is thought that Ellen Willson, who is from St. Albans, drove her pickup truck into oncoming traffic on U.S. Route 2 in North Hero, which is located on the Lake Champlain Islands, at approximately 1:37 p.m., causing two motorbikes to collide with each other, according to the Vermont State Police.
According to the authorities, Hunter Rounds, who was twenty years old and from Grand Isle, was pronounced dead at the scene of the situation. An further motorcyclist, a man from Grand Isle who was 51 years old, was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Centre in a condition that was considered to be serious but stable.
According to the police, Willson was cited on two counts of gross negligence operation. Willson had minor injuries as a result of the incident. On August 7, she is scheduled to appear in Grand Isle County Court to face the accusations; it was not immediately known whether or not she had attorneys present at the time of her appearance.
Due to the fact that highway 2, the sole highway that runs north-south between Grand Isle and South Alburg, was closed for around three hours, motorists would have been forced to take a lengthy detour by either boat or car.
