In the course of a fire that broke out at an animal hospital in North Haven on Sunday evening, firefighters assisted in the rescue of many dogs.
Fire officials stated that they arrived at the Central Animal Hospital on Devine Street at approximately 9:15 p.m. in response to a fire that had occurred there.
According to what they stated, a fire broke out in a dryer that was located in a section of the facility dedicated to housing a number of animals.
“The fire caused heavy smoke and toxic fumes in the area,” officials from the fire department said.
Following the extinguishment of the fire, firefighters worked to transport some of the animals to the outside of the building, where the medical personnel was ready to treat them. The firefighters collaborated with the personnel in order to bring some of the canines who had been removed back to life and provide them with medical attention.
It was determined by the officials of the fire department that two canines were in cardiac arrest but were able to be saved.
The animal hospital reported that the harm was not significant and did not extend beyond a tiny area. Both inpatient and outpatient consultations are still being provided, and the emergency room has been reopened for business.
Help was also provided by the North Haven police department, the animal control officers, and the ambulance crew.
The fire is still being investigated at this time.
