Officers from the Austin Police Department responded to an emergency call on Thursday reporting a woman in distress, restrained and calling for help. Upon arrival, the victim was found handcuffed to a piece of exercise equipment outside a residence, showing physical signs of prolonged captivity with multiple injuries.
Police had to cut through the handcuff links to safely free her. As officers worked to release the woman, multiple adults exited the home and were detained. A search revealed no additional victims, but three young children were present inside the home.

According to the affidavit obtained by the Austin American-Statesman, Garcia believed the woman had become “chunky” and limited her to only one meal a day, leading to severe malnourishment.
The victim recounted a night where she got into trouble after her pants slipped down. As punishment, she was shot with a BB gun and forced to stand handcuffed outside to gym equipment overnight in temperatures dropping to the 40s°F.
- Police reported multiple injuries including open wounds, wrist swelling from restraints, BB pellet scars, and significant facial trauma.
- Juan Pablo Castro admitted to shooting the victim with a rifle-style BB gun to avoid physical contact and confessed he chased her around the garden because he “f****** hates her.”
