In the aftermath of a high-speed collision that occurred on Interstate 95 in Brevard County, Florida Highway Patrol troopers are conducting a search for multiple suspects who then escaped on foot.
A crash that occurred on Interstate 95 in Brevard County is being investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol, which is looking into a possible incident involving street racing. The collision took place in the vicinity of State Road 520 in Cocoa. The three people who were inside the vehicle disembarked on foot and are still at large.
Both the identification of the suspects and the confirmation of whether or not the vehicle was stolen have not been made public by the authorities. Furthermore, it is not obvious whether any CCTV or dashcam film could be of use in identifying people who were engaged.
According to reports, the collision took place when the vehicle in issue was allegedly speeding close to Exit 191 in Viera. The car was moving at high speeds, according to the testimony of witnesses and the reports filed by the police, before it collided with another vehicle and came to a stop. Deputies from Brevard County and Florida Highway Patrol responded quickly, deploying air and K-9 units.
At around ten miles to the north, at State Road 520 in Cocoa, the incident originated close to Exit 191 in Viera and went on to conclude. According to the investigators, the suspects had been racing on the highway before to the collision that occurred, which caused all three people who were inside the vehicle to flee the scene.
A woman who only identified herself as Sabrina stated that the Charger had sideswiped her vehicle while it was involved in the collision.
“All of a sudden, this Dodge Charger-looking car just smashed into the side of my car, took out the whole side front end,” she explained to reporters. “I am completely astonished at this very moment. I am completely taken aback.”
In the immediate aftermath of the collision, she observed a significant presence of law enforcement officers.
“They’re searching for them, running around with ARs and everything,” she stated to reporters.
In order to provide assistance to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office dispatched patrol deputies, K-9 units, and an aircraft team.
“Our deputies responded along with our K9s and our aviation unit,” said Tod Goodyear, a representative for the sheriff’s department.
While they were responding to the site, two patrol vehicles belonging to the sheriff’s office sustained damage. There was no report of any injuries.
“Luckily, in this case, there were no accidents on I-95 involved in this pursuit,” Goodyear stated in his statement. “The only accident was the vehicle itself.”
