In yet another incident that occurred close to a popular airport in South Florida, residents of a Miami suburb used an ax, a fire extinguisher, and a garden hose to rescue four individuals who were trapped inside a small plane that had crashed into a tree.
As stated on Tuesday, Angelo Castillo, the mayor of Pembroke Pines, which is located in Broward County, described the event as “nothing short of heroic.”
Nevertheless, Castillo is irritated. In the previous five years, he stated that there have been more than thirty accidents that have occurred on or surrounding North Perry Airport, which is a facility that services small planes.
The statement made by Castillo was as follows: “We need better assurances that these planes are not going to continue falling out of the sky.” In the years leading up to World War II, the airport was a dairy farm. It has become the most active general aviation airport in the state of Florida. On the other hand, there are nearly half a million people living within a radius of five miles.
