Gilgo Beach Shocker: Suspect’s Daughter Believes Father is the Killer, but His Wife Isn’t Convinced

A new Peacock documentary called “The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets” lets fans see inside the home of suspected serial killer Rex Heuermann in Massapequa Park.

And for the first time, Heuermann’s ex-wife and his daughter talk about the case, showing that they have different ideas about whether the New York City builder is guilty.

His wife of 27 years, Asa Ellerup, said, “There is no way this man is going out, asking sex workers for money, killing them, and dumping their bodies on Gilgo Beach.”

Victoria Ellerup, Ellerup’s daughter, seems torn throughout the three-part series. She says she’s “on the fence” about whether or not her father is innocent.

“This is my dad.” I love having him as my dad. She said, “The hate is the other side of him that came out.”

In the last episode, however, the documentary’s makers say on-screen that “Victoria now believes her father is most likely the Gilgo Beach killer.”

Victoria Heuermann’s lawyer revealed her thoughts in an interview on Tuesday.

“Being at the center of this process, she has received an overwhelming amount of evidence that leads to an inevitable conclusion,” Vess Mitev, the lawyer for the group, said.

Bob Macedonio, Ellerup’s lawyer, said, “Even if Rex is found guilty or pleads guilty, I don’t know if she’ll ever believe that the man she knows was capable of those crimes.” Ellerup maintains that her husband is not guilty.

Seven women who worked as sex workers were killed by Rex Heuermann between 1993 and 1999.

Heuermann has said that he is innocent through his lawyer, Michael Brown. He is still in Suffolk County Jail, and his hearing date has not been set yet.

In the documentary, Ellerup and her daughter Victoria Heuermann both talked about how surprised they were when they were arrested and charged with crimes in July 2023. This changed their lives.

“They told me they have proof that your father killed all of these women and that your house is a crime scene.” She said, “I never thought I’d hear that in my life.” Victoria Heuermann was working in her dad’s office in Manhattan when he was arrested.

In the documentary, Ellerup, her lawyer, and her two kids go to the basement, which is where prosecutors say some of the killings may have happened.

“It’s completely crazy.” “They’re just claims,” Asa Ellerup says.

“He had to be Superman so we never saw him.” “This was his room when he was a kid,” Victoria Heuermann said about her dad.

His voice can be heard in the video as he calls his family from Suffolk County Jail. He talks about what he ate for dinner that night, among other things.

A man who says he is Rex Heuermann’s best friend and was interviewed for the documentary talks about going to see the accused killer in Suffolk County Jail.

“Did you do it?” I asked. Afterward, he got a little teary and began to cry. “And that’s when I think he did it,” said David Jimenez, an architect from Port Washington who said he and Heuermann became friends because they both liked guns and right politics.
