Gun Violence Strikes Douglass Park: 14-Year-Old Boy and Another Victim Injured

In a shooting that took place on Thursday at Douglass Park on the West Side of Chicago, a boy who was 14 years old and another individual were both injured, according to the police.

It was approximately 7:03 p.m. when the gunshot was reported to have taken place in the 1400 block of South Sacramento Avenue. The shots were fired by an unknown male criminal who approached the victims while they were at a park, according to the police. Both victims were struck by the rounds.

A young man, aged 14, was shot in the neck and sent to a nearby hospital, where he is currently in critical condition. According to reports, the second victim, whose age is unknown, was shot in the back and was also taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Crime scene tape was used to cordon off an area of the park, which included a basketball court, according to footage that was obtained by a photographer who was there at the incident.

Detectives from Area Four continued their investigation into the shooting all the way until Thursday night. In the Englewood section of the city, three persons were shot many times in an attack that took place the day before. The attack took place close to Ogden Park.
