Heartbreaking Rescue: 80 Dogs Found in Deceased Woman's Brooklyn Home, One Giving Birth During Operation

Police and animal shelter authorities say they have discovered more than 80 dogs inside a Brooklyn home where a woman was discovered deceased.

Just before seven in the morning on Thursday, officers were summoned to Mill Basin’s East 66th Street in reference to a woman who was not responding. The 73-year-old was discovered deceased at the scene after being discovered on the ground floor. According to police, EMS evaluated a second woman who was discovered alive inside the house.

The Animal Care Centers (ACC) of NYC report that during the investigation, first responders discovered a lot of dogs inside the building, so numerous that officials first couldn’t even enter the house. Numerous canines were described as “severely matted” by the group, and the majority seemed to be ill.

“All have been living in unimaginable filth,” the ACC wrote in an Instagram post.

Officials did not know whether more dogs were still present, but 83 dogs in all were taken out of the dirty house. As she was being rescued, one of the dogs gave birth, according to the ACC.

The ACC was seeking adopters for the dogs and said all of the pets would be taken to a shelter in Queens.

The 73-year-old woman’s cause of death has not yet been established by the medical examiner.
