DACULA, Georgia — During the courageous act of saving his twin granddaughters from catastrophic injury in their backyard on Wednesday afternoon, Manuel Pinzon, a grandfather who was 77 years old, was struck by a falling tree limb, which ultimately resulted in his death. According to Family and authorities, Manuel Pinzon passed away.
What happened
Pinzon was in the company of his sister, his twin granddaughters Isabella and Gabi, who were eight years old at the time, when they heard a loud cracking sound coming from above in the wooded area that was located behind their house. Pinzon moved the twins out of harm’s path as the tree limb began to fall, but he managed to take the whole impact of the huge branch, which is estimated to weigh between 65 and 75 pounds, on his head. He had been unconscious and bleeding when he was discovered on the ground.
While the second twin raced inside to inform their grandmother, the first twin dialled 911 to report the situation. Following the directions given by the emergency dispatcher, the youngster attempted to stabilise Pinzon’s head by using a rag; nonetheless, Pinzon continued to bleed heavily. Following his arrival at the local hospital, Pinzon was pronounced dead immediately after the arrival of the emergency personnel who transported him there.
Family’s account
The grandfather “sacrificed his life to save my two twins from a tree,” according to Jason Krause, Pinzon’s son-in-law, who discussed the incident with WANF. The statement made by Krause was as follows: “He pushed them out of the way, took the full hit on his head, and did not make it.”
There was a newborn deer that the twins discovered earlier that day while they were exploring the forest in their backyard. It was Pinzon’s suggestion that they take a break for lunch and come back later to check on the deer that ultimately led to the fatal event that occurred.
Krause characterised Pinzon as a man who had a profound reverence for both his family and the natural world. The statement that Krause made was, “He was the greatest man I’ve ever known.” Due to the fact that he was a hero, all I want to do is raise a glass to him and celebrate his life.
Aftermath
In the wake of the death of their cherished grandfather, who played a significant role in their lives, the twins, who are covered in blood and in a state of shock, have begun the process of receiving trauma counselling.
In addition to his wife of fifty years, two daughters, and five grandchildren, Pinzon was going to turn 78 the next month. He leaves behind his family.
