Horrible Accident in Central Park Claims Life of 43-Year-Old Man

This Wednesday, a terrible tragedy occurred in Central Park, which is unfortunate for the people of New York.

An individual who was riding a bicycle and a pedestrian who was 41 years old were involved in a collision at a crosswalk, as reported by the New York Police Department. It was reported that the cyclist, who was 43 years old, hit his head on the curb close to the intersection of 96th Street and East Drive.

It was determined that the cyclist needed immediate medical attention for his injuries, so he was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital. However, he was pronounced dead prior to seven o’clock Eastern Time.

When it comes to the pedestrian, the only injuries that were reported were insignificant abrasions to the hand.

The cyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to the news reports concerning the incident.

This incident is currently being investigated by the police.

It has only been four weeks since the last collision that occurred at Central Park, and this is the second one that has occurred there.

Late in the month of May, two horse-drawn carriages were involved in a collision. In spite of the fact that the horses did not sustain severe injuries, both of the carriage drivers were taken to the hospital.

At the beginning of March, there was another incident in which a woman riding a Citibike collided with another individual riding an electric bicycle.

From Our Town NY:

A woman on a Citibike was struck by another motorized e-bike near Cleopatra’s Needle on the east side of Central Park on March 10 and apparently struck her head and rolled into the gutter, according to a witness.

But in a vivid demonstration of the difficulty in obtaining bike accident records in the city, the NYPD said both an 18-year-old woman and a 34 year-old male were transported by EMS to Weill Cornell.

While the views at Central Park are gorgeous, it’s imperative to stay alert at all times.

We hope everyone stays safe this weekend.
