A driver was killed after their pickup truck ran over them as they were getting gas at a gas station on the East Side of Kansas City on Sunday afternoon, according to a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.
According to Captain Jake Becchina of the Kansas City Police Department, the collision took place at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Sunday at the Fast Stop located at 7100 Eastwood Trafficway.
It was discovered during the preliminary investigation that the driver had parked a green Ford F-150 pickup truck in a parking place that was located in front of the convenience store.
According to Becchina, the time the pickup truck started rolling backwards out of the parking area was when the driver was getting gasoline for the vehicle.
According to Becchina, the driver made an attempt to enter the moving pickup truck on the passenger side, but he tripped and was subsequently run over by the Ford. It was determined that the driver had passed away at the site.
The death of the driver is the 33rd fatality that has occurred in traffic this year, whereas there were 48 fatalities in traffic by this time last year.
There is still an ongoing investigation.
