Kansas City TV Station Confirms Death of Reporter in New Orleans Just Before Super Bowl 59

The Kansas City television station that a sports reporter works for reported that the reporter passed away on Wednesday when he was in New Orleans to cover Super Bowl 59.

The news that Adan Manzano, who was 27 years old and worked as both an anchor and a reporter for Telemundo Kansas City, passed away while he was on assignment to cover the Super Bowl for both the Spanish language network and Tico Sports was announced on Thursday.

According to a press release. “We are saddened to share that Adan Manzano passed away yesterday in New Orleans,” the statement read. “We are cooperating with law enforcement as they investigate this tragic event.”

Manzano has been described as a “true professional and rising star who exemplified excellence in his work.” During this particular season, Manzano covered the Super Bowl for the television station for the third consecutive year.

“We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sports, and the contributions he made to the local community,” the television station stated in its announcement. “Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

It has been communicated to the New Orleans Police Department that they do not possess any additional information regarding the incident.

Adan was a loving and devoted father to his small daughter, according to Tico Sports.

Tico Sports issued a statement in which they said, “Adan was a talented and professional broadcaster. He provided sideline coverage for the Kansas City Chiefs Spanish broadcast and was the play-by-play caller for the Kansas City Current.” He was a member of the team who was well loved and respected, and he was someone who was eager and dynamic.

Adan was a caring father to his small daughter, a helpful colleague, and a loyal friend. He was also a faithful buddy. The statement went on to say that “he will be greatly missed by our TICO Family and will continue to live on in our hearts and memories.”

A automobile accident claimed the life of Manzano’s wife the previous year.

Ashleigh LeeAnn Boyd Manzano, Mazano’s wife, passed away on April 11, 2024, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Topeka, Kansas. Although the collision resulted in the death of the second-grade teacher, it also resulted in significant injuries to the infant passenger of the teacher’s vehicle as well as the adult driver of another vehicle.

According to an email sent to parents that was obtained by Topeka Capital-Journal, which is a member of the USA TODAY Network, Superintendent Tiffany Anderson of Topeka USD 501 referred to Boyd as a “bright light” and said that her “second-grade students loved” her.

“Ashleigh was the most gorgeous, compassionate, and charitable girl I have ever met. The obituary about her makes the following statement: “Her dazzling personality was infectious and would brighten any room she walked into.” “She was a bright spot in the darkness, and she never failed to wear a smile on her face. Ashleigh had a wonderful impact on the lives of everyone she came in contact with and affected a great number of people’s lives.
