The yearly fireworks show that the City of Richmond puts on was held one day earlier than usual. This took place at a time when the city is taking stringent measures to prevent illegal fireworks from being set off in their neighborhood.
A large throng had assembled at Marina Bay Park, and fireworks were being fired into the night sky as they were being launched.
A few individuals arrived early and made preparations. In order to maintain a comfortable temperature for the performance, Pamela Christian’s family erected these igloo tents.
According to Christian, the celebration on July 3rd is always accompanied by a gust of wind. “So we learned from the first one.”
By doing so, the city is able to offer a method that is both enjoyable and secure for the enjoyment of fireworks.
Deputy Fire Chief Rico Rincon of the Richmond Fire Department provided the following statement: “I believe that we are constantly having conversations to ensure that we provide a festive and celebratory environment for our citizens, while also ensuring that we constantly consider safety.”
The city is taking a more stringent approach to the illicit sale of fireworks this year. Residents have reported that the fireworks begin many weeks prior to the Fourth of July and may continue into the month of August.
The statement that Marissa made was that “my street is probably one of the busier ones.” “I can sit on my front porch and see fireworks for miles.”
Over twenty additional cops will be assigned to patrol the streets as part of the police department’s efforts to crack down on the issue on July 4th. One thousand dollars in fines could be imposed on those who are caught.
According to Chief Bisa French of the Richmond Police Department, “This year we are going to have more officials on the streets than we have ever had before.” “We’re going to be using the drones so we can actually catch people in the act because we know the toll that’s taken on our community over the years, and we want to have an impact on that.”
The cool wind may have been the only thing that caused problems on this particular evening. People were able to witness a fantastic fireworks show because the fog was able to dissipate for a sufficient amount of time.
“I think it’s real special to have it here so everybody can come together and enjoy it,” remarked Christian in response.
