During an arrest operation that took place in a neighborhood in Los Angeles on Wednesday, security cameras caught officers from the Department of Homeland Security driving their unmarked cars into a white Mercedes sedan.
Authorities from the Department of Homeland Security stated that they were looking for a guy who had allegedly struck a border patrol officer. Federal agents were seen on surveillance tape pinning the suspect’s vehicle along Whittier Boulevard in Boyle Heights. They used a truck and an SUV to accomplish this target.
This was not a hit-and-run accident. A violent rioter who assaulted a CBP officer was taken into custody in a targeted operation, according to a post made by Homeland Security on X. Christian Damian Cerno-Camacho made an attempt to evade arrest by Homeland Security Investigations when they were attempting to apprehend him for the attack. It was ultimately determined that he was apprehended and taken into custody.
Before the driver got out of the vehicle, the agents allegedly pulled out their weapons and deployed tear gas, according to many witnesses. Verita Topete, a spectator, stated that she had a conversation with a passenger who was in the car.
“They had been following them ever since Long Beach,” Topete stated. Due to the fact that he had the impression that he was being followed, he began to drive in a very suspicious manner over here. It was at that point that they arrived at this intersection. They were allegedly in possession of a warrant for his arrest due to the fact that he participated in the demonstration at the Paramount.
According to Topete, the passenger was agitated following the collision which occurred. An additional witness, Steve Silva, stated that she was carrying two infants with her.
“Literally, one in a crib and the other one maybe 1.5 years old,” Silva explained to reporters.
As far as Topete is concerned, she remained with the mother, contacted the emergency medical services to assess the babies, and filed a report with the police against the agents.
“They were proud of what they did, which is not OK,” said Topete in response. The poor mom and her children are being terrorized by these individuals that are out here. I assisted her in making calls to 911 and the paramedics so that she could get her babies checked out so that she could file a report with the police because who is going to pay for this?
Following the arrest, the Supervisor of the Los Angeles County, Hilda Solis, voiced her disapproval of the recent immigration enforcement activities that took place in Southern California.
“This aggressive enforcement approach is fueling fear and trauma in our communities, placing a dangerous strain on our local resources, and provoking chaos rather than ensuring public safety,” according to her statement.
She also mentioned that the Board of Supervisors had given its approval to a measure that would use outreach tools and provide mental health care to communities that are comprised of immigrants.
