Protesters who assaulted law enforcement officials and destroyed public property have received a message from the District Attorney’s Office of Los Angeles County: Be on the lookout for us.
On Tuesday, District Attorney Nathan Hochman informed NBC Los Angeles that a group of seasoned prosecutors will begin the process of scrutinizing police arrest reports.
“We are going to hold you accountable for it,” the district attorney said. “You want to put the lives of officers in danger, and you want to damage public property.”
The inquiry will involve going through social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok because many violent demonstrators have a tendency to show off their criminal behavior on these platforms.
Hochman stated that you have the ability to prosecute some of the individuals who were responsible for those acts. These posts can be traced back to a real individual, according to our findings. Even if it takes us some time, we will eventually arrive at our destination.
Hochman was quoted as saying that even while those who trashed, looted, or destroyed property were a small fraction of the thousands of people who peacefully demonstrated, many of the criminals may assume that the repercussions will be relatively modest.
Hochman cautioned that some individuals might have the misconception that the District Attorney would only give you a slap on the wrist. “Because it will happen, I don’t want anyone to come back and say, ‘I didn’t know this was coming.'”
Former Republican Hochman declined to comment on the disagreement between President Trump and Governor Newsom on the deployment of the National Guard. The disagreement is about the deployment of the National Guard.
