Man Airlifted to Rockford Hospital After Multi-Vehicle Crash

After sustaining serious injuries in a collision involving many vehicles that occurred on Sunday in unincorporated Harvard, a man was transported to a hospital in Rockford via helicopter.

Following reports of a collision that were received by 911, the Harvard Fire Protection District was sent to the vicinity of Route 173 and Crowley Road at around 2:37 p.m., as stated by the police.

After arriving on the scene, the crews established that the collision between the SUV and the semi-truck had caused moderate to serious damage, according to the police.

Apparently, the SUV had off the roadway and stopped in a forested location, where the driver was stuck and needed to be extricated. This information was provided by the authorities.

The victim was rescued from the SUV by firemen with the assistance of an additional engine from the Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District. He was then transported by medical helicopter to Javon Bea Hospital–Riverside in Rockford, where he was treated for critical injuries.

It was reported by the police that the driver of the semitruck did not disclose any injuries.

During the approximately two hours that crews were working at the incident, the street was closed, as reported by the police. McHenry County Sheriff’s Department is conducting an investigation into the crash, according to the police.
