Tijeras (New Mexico)- In the year 2024, a guy was indicted for the deadly shooting of his parents, his teenage sister, and the household dog, according to officials from the state of New Mexico.
According to the criminal complaint, Bernalillo County officers arrived to a residence in Tijeras in October 2024 after receiving a call from a man who claimed to have heard gunshots coming from a residence that was occupied by a family of four (the family in question).
The documents state that he attempted to draw the family’s attention by texting them and honking the horn of his automobile, but he did not receive a response from them.
According to the documents, when the deputies came, they discovered Adlai Mestre exiting the house while holding a gun and a magazine that was full with ammo.
According to the records, Mestre told the officers who were holding him that he had killed a number of people and was planning to bury them.
According to the lawsuit, when the deputies entered the house, they saw “blood transfer patterns consistent with drag marks and mopping/cleaning.”
In addition, they discovered a hammer and a meat tenderizer that had blood on them next to the front door of the house, according to the officials.
It was reported that officers discovered the bodies of three people—two adults and a teenager—in a ravine close to the residence.
According to a post that was made on Facebook by the district attorney’s office on July 10, the parents of Mestre, Bertha Huerta Conde and Raymundo Mestre, as well as his sister, Brielle Mestre, who was 17 years old, were later recognized as the individuals who had passed away.
Additionally, he is accused of killing the family dog, according to the officials.
His sister was well-known for her participation in activities like as wheelchair basketball and for her “long-time” membership in the Carrie Tingley facility Foundation, which is a pediatric rehabilitation facility.
She was a young woman who was truly remarkable. “I just wish that everyone could have experienced what I got to experience,” Kerry Trautwein, a volunteer for Carrie Tingley, said to KRQE in the year 2024.
According to the website of the charity, she was also the recipient of a scholarship from the organization.
“The scholarship funds that we established will be able to help a child and their family, or maybe several families, to be able to continue to participate in those adaptive programs that our foundation offers,” said Liliana Prado-Bujanda, Executive Director of the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation, in a statement to the outlet.
According to the documents, Adlai Mestre told the police that he killed his father in the living room and his mother as she was walking down the stairs. However, he did not know about his younger sister. This information was provided during his interrogation with the investigators.
After that, he dragged them outdoors till he “buried them in the ravine,” according to the authorities.
According to the paperwork, he attempted to clean up the house, but he was stopped by the officers who were responding to the call.
While the cops were finishing up the paperwork for his booking, Adlai Mestre pounded the wall of the room, then kicked open a hole, and managed to escape from jail. However, he was eventually pursued down the hallway and placed into custody once more, according to the officials.
Several charges, including murder, tampering with evidence, excessive cruelty to animals, fleeing from the custody of an officer, and criminal damage to property, were brought against him, according to the officials who made the announcement.
