On Monday evening, the identities of two individuals who had passed away as a result of a collision involving two vehicles that occurred early on Monday morning were disclosed by the St. Clair County Coroner, Calvin Dye, Sr.
Brenden Colvin, age 26, from the 1200 block of Columbia Road in Dupo, and Heather N. Jones, age 41, lived in the 2300 block of Old State Road in East Carondelet, according to Dye. Both of these individuals were killed.
At one minute and forty-eight seconds, Dye stated that both were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities had been concealed until the family could be informed of the situation.
Thomas Trice, the Chief of Police in Cahokia Heights, stated that the police received a call early on Monday morning reporting the collision that occurred at Illinois 3 and Ruby Lane.
The Kia SUV and the GMC pickup truck that were involved in the accident were both traveling southbound on Illinois Route 3 at the time of the collision. When Colvin and Jones were driving a Kia SUV, they attempted to pass a GMC pickup truck, but they collided with the front end of the truck. According to Trice, both individuals were thrown out of the Kia because neither of them was wearing a seat belt.
Nobody knows for sure who was behind the wheel of the KIA.
An Accident Reconstruction team from the Illinois State Police was dispatched to the scene in order to process the situation.
Trice provided the following statement: “We are waiting on the Accident Reconstruction team from the Illinois State Police to further the investigation.”
According to Trice, it is being presumed that speed played a role in the accident.
The pickup truck did not sustain any injuries, according to the police.
