A four-car crash that occurred on Tuesday evening in Crystal Lake resulted in numerous individuals being hurt. The driver of the hit-and-run vehicle is currently facing a multitude of charges.
According to the Crystal Lake Police Department, Deondrae L. Clements, who is 35 years old and lives in Elgin, was driving a Mazda SUV that was moving westbound down Three Oaks Road at a high rate of speed at around 9:14 p.m. this evening. Around that time, Clements ran a red light at Route 31, collided with two vehicles traveling in the opposite direction, and then collided head-on with an SUV traveling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the SUV traveling in the eastbound direction sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized at a nearby facility for treatment. Both of the drivers of the two automobiles traveling southward were taken to the hospital with very minor injuries.
Despite Clements’s attempts to flee the scene, he was eventually discovered and taken into custody. In addition to driving with a license that was suspended or revoked for driving under the influence of alcohol, he was charged with aggravated reckless driving that caused substantial bodily harm and failing to report an accident that included personal injury.
