At the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning, a man who had been indicted earlier this month in connection with the deadly car bombing that occurred outside of a fertility clinic in California was discovered unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead, according to federal officials.
Approximately 7:30 in the morning on June 24, 2025, employees at the administrative security facility found Daniel Park, who was 32 years old, unresponsive.
Employees immediately began life-saving measures and called emergency medical services, as stated in a statement obtained from the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBP). In the end, Park was pronounced dead at the nearby hospital, where he was taken after being transported there.
Each of the United States Marshals Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been informed of the situation. Inmates and staff members were not injured, and there was never a threat to the general public, according to the officials who confirmed this information.
As a result of his alleged involvement in the bombing that took place on May 17 outside of the American Reproductive Centers facility in Palm Springs, Park had been held at the facility since June 13 under pretrial detention. This was after he was indicted for the crime of malicious destruction of property. Guy Edward Bartkus, who was 25 years old, was the bomber who was killed in that attack, according to the authorities. Four other people were injured.
The authorities assert that Park provided assistance to Bartkus by supplying him with explosive materials and chemicals, as well as by assisting him in conducting experiments in the suspect’s garage located in 29 Palms. It was previously stated in court documents and by the United States Attorney Bill Essayli that Park utilized an artificial intelligence chatbot in order to conduct research on explosive devices in the days leading up to the attack.
After being deported from Poland, where he had traveled briefly after the bombing, Park was taken into custody earlier this month at the JFK Airport in New York City.
By citing the suspects’ adherence to a radical ideology known as “pro-mortalism,” which views human reproduction as morally wrong, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has classified the bombing as an act of domestic terrorism at this time. According to the prosecution, the suspects may have targeted the clinic with the intention of destroying human embryos that were stored there.
The bombing was described by Attorney General Pam Bondi as “a particularly cruel and disgusting crime that strikes at the very heart of our shared humanity.”
Park’s cause of death has not been disclosed by the authorities as of yet, and they have stated that the incident is currently being investigated.
