Manitowoc County Crash Leaves One Dead, 13-Year-Old Injured in Buggy Accident

In a crash in Manitowoc County on Sunday morning, one man was killed and a 13-year-old was hurt. They were thrown from their horse-drawn carriage.

A press release from the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office says that at 8:55 a.m., officers were called to USH 10 east of Maertz Road in the Township of Cato to investigate a serious crash involving a car and a horse-drawn carriage.

A 42-year-old woman from Brillion was driving a 2020 GMC Terrain, and a 27-year-old guy from Manitowoc County was driving a horse-drawn carriage. Both were going east on USH 10 when the GMC Terrain crashed into the back of the carriage.

The 27-year-old driver of the horse-drawn carriage and his 13-year-old passenger were thrown out after the accident.

The 27-year-old man was declared dead at the scene of the accident, and the 13-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital by ambulance with what are thought to be “serious injuries.”

At this point, we don’t have any more information, and the Wisconsin State Patrol is currently reconstructing the whole crash as part of an ongoing probe.
