Miami-Dade County, FL – A 16-year-old boy remains critically hospitalized following a shooting in the Leisure City neighborhood early Friday morning. Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office deputies have arrested three suspects, including the 20-year-old gunman, after the violent incident that shocked the local community.
The shooting occurred shortly after 3:45 a.m., near Southwest 140th Place and 283 Lane, a residential area south of the Naranja neighborhood and near the Florida Turnpike. Investigators quickly responded to the scene, securing a Dodge Charger believed to be involved, and launched an intensive investigation to bring those responsible to justice.
The Arrests and Charges Filed
Deputies apprehended Napoleon Bryant, 20, who is accused of firing the weapon and tampering with evidence. Alongside him, two co-conspirators, Jesus Aguilar, 30, and Tazaria Miller, 22, were also arrested for aiding in covering up the crime.
The charges brought against the trio include:
- Napoleon Bryant: first-degree attempted murder with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a firearm, tampering with physical evidence while armed, and unlawful discharge of a firearm in a public place.
- Jesus Aguilar and Tazaria Miller: tampering with physical evidence and two counts each of accessory after the fact.
Judge Carmen R. Cabarga is assigned to Bryant’s case, while Judge David Young will preside over the cases involving Aguilar and Miller. All three are currently held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center near Doral.

Detective Joseph R. Peguero Rivera, spokesperson for the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office, reported that deputies found the juvenile victim critically injured at the scene. The incident has deeply unsettled residents.
“It’s disturbing,” said Tyrone Payne, a local father. “We want our neighborhood to be safe and peaceful. This kind of violence shakes the entire community.”
