Miami Tragedy: One Killed, Two Injured After Driver Strikes Pedestrian and Vehicles Near Shenandoah Park

A man was killed in a violent multi-car crash in front of Miami’s Shenadoah Park. Two other people, including the driver who caused the crash, were taken to the hospital.

At around 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday, City of Miami Police and Fire Rescue were called to the accident scene at the corner of Southwest 21st Avenue and 19th Street.

Mere, a witness, said, “I heard the bang. It was a really loud bang.” “It was so loud that I didn’t think it was an accident. It sounded like a bomb or something.”

“I ran out of my house and saw a dead body on the sidewalk,” Mere said. “It was between a park and a school, an area that is usually full of families and kids.”

Investigators say the driver hit both the person and a parked car that was not being used. The force of the accident caused the second car to hit an ice cream truck with a driver inside.

The horrifying moment of contact was caught on camera by a Tesla.

The person on foot was declared dead at the scene.

Detectives told 7News that the hurt driver got up and walked away, but some kind people caught up with him.

“I heard a noise and looked out into the park. There looked like a fight, so I asked myself, ‘What’s going on?'” “Then it was because they had pinned the guy down and were holding him down.” He tried to get away. He tried to run away in the park, but other people caught him and jumped on him.

Investigators say the good Samaritans held the driver until police arrived and arrested him.

The driver and the woman who was driving the ice cream truck were taken to Ryder Trauma Center by paramedics, but their situations are unknown.

The doctors wheeling the driver into the hospital were caught on camera by 7News. He was tied to the cart with handcuffs.

The woman’s son, Juan Lugo, rushed to the hospital to be with her.

He said, “Someone at the crime scene called me.”

Lugo said, “I haven’t heard yet” when asked about his mother’s health.

Back at the accident site, police blocked off Southwest 21st Avenue between 19th and 17th streets. People are told to stay away from the area and look for other ways to get around.

It’s still not clear what charges the driver might face because the cops are still looking into the case.
