Two brothers, Ivy Mitchell (6 years old) and Devin Mitchell (10 years old), were reported missing from Homestead on Tuesday morning. A Florida MISSING CHILD Alert was sent out for them.
The last place the kids were seen was in the morning, in the 12800 block of Southwest 242nd Street by the police. The alert made people in the area very worried right away, and police and the public stepped up to help with the search.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) sent out the warning to get the word out and help find the two kids quickly.
Deputies reported that both Ivy and Devin had been found just a few hours after the alert went out. However, police did not give any more information about how or where the children were during the time they were apparently lost.
It’s not clear from what the authorities have said if they think foul play happened or if the kids were with someone else when they went missing. The investigation into the case is still going on, and more information may be shared as it develops.
The kids’ quick return is good news for the family and the rest of Homestead, who had been waiting for good news for a long time.
