Pennsylvania State Police say that an out-of-control dump truck crossed the grass middle of a busy highway near Valley Forge National Historical Park in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, on Friday and hit a car. The driver of that car is fighting for their life.
The accident took place Friday morning on Route 422 east, close to Valley Forge Park. Video from SkyForce10 shows the truck lying on its side with a layer of what looks like spilt sand around it. The video also shows a badly damaged silver sedan and a huge line of cars on the busy road.
Pennsylvania State Police said the driver of the silver Ford car had injuries that didn’t look like they could be saved, while the driver of the dump truck had only minor injuries.
Between the Oaks and Trooper Road exits on 422 east, only one lane of traffic could fit over the truck’s dumped load.
The driver of the three-axle dump truck lost control near milepost 188.4 going west. The truck went off the left side of the road, through the retaining guide wire barrier, across the grass median, and into oncoming traffic, according to state police.
The dump truck then hit the car, flipped over, and dumped its load across the lanes going east. On the middle strip, muddy tyre tracks from a dump truck could be seen.
