A guy was taken into custody by the police in Madison County earlier this week on a charge of murder while they were conducting an investigation into a case involving missing persons.
The Anderson Police Department has acknowledged, through a press release, that it received a report on Sunday related to a person who has gone missing. That investigation was given to the criminal investigations branch of the Atlanta Police Department.
A vehicle belonging to the missing individual was found by law enforcement on the same day that the police initially received a report about the missing person. An individual who was not the one the police were seeking for was operating that automobile, and he was a male subject.
After being questioned by detectives and arrested on allegations of auto theft and forgery, the driver of the vehicle taken by the missing person was not identified in the press release issued by the police.
The police continued their hunt for the one who had gone missing after they had apprehended the male subject. The police carried out various search warrants and proceeded to pursue leads they had gotten on the missing person over the forty-eight hours that followed their detention of the male subject.
Local law enforcement officials in Madison County carried out a search operation on Monday in the vicinity of the intersection where County Road 700 South and Atlantic Road. During the course of the search, a drone was utilized, and as a result, the authorities discovered a previously deceased individual.
The Madison County Coroner was dispatched to the location in order to take control of the deceased individual and provide assistance to the police as they continue their investigation. The coroner’s office is still working to ascertain the specific manner in which the deceased person passed away as well as the cause of death.
According to the current investigation, the body that was discovered during the search near the intersection of County Road 700 South and Atlantic Road is believed to be that of the person who went missing. According to the news statement issued by the APD, the identify of the person who went missing was not disclosed.
To add to the charges of auto theft and forgery that were already brought against him, the male subject whom police discovered driving the vehicle belonging to the missing individual on Sunday is now facing a preliminary accusation of murder.
It was confirmed by the Atlanta Police Department that the person who was arrested is currently being held at the Madison County Jail on a 72-hour hold.
In order to “avoid hindering the investigation,” the Atlanta Police Department (APD) stated that the names of the individual who was arrested and the person who went missing were not included in the press release.
