New All-Way Stop Sign Coming to Tehachapi, Public Works Confirms

Tehachapi, CA—

A new all-way stop sign will soon be installed at a busy intersection in Tehachapi, according to an announcement from the city’s Public Works Department.

The move comes in response to increased traffic concerns and community feedback about safety at the location.

“We’ve received several reports from residents expressing concern about near-misses and confusion at the intersection,” said a spokesperson for the Public Works Department.

“After a thorough traffic study, we determined that an all-way stop is the best solution to improve safety and ensure a smoother flow of traffic.”

The installation is scheduled to take place within the next two weeks, with signage and road markings expected to be completed shortly thereafter. During the installation period, minor traffic disruptions may occur, and drivers are advised to use caution when traveling through the area.

Local residents have expressed support for the change, many citing long-standing issues with unclear right-of-way and limited visibility. “It’s about time,” said Tehachapi resident [Insert Resident’s Name]. “That corner has always been dangerous, especially during school drop-off and pick-up hours.”

Public Works officials also noted that they are reviewing additional intersections in the city for potential traffic control upgrades. Community members are encouraged to share their input and report areas of concern through the city’s official website or by contacting the Public Works Department directly.

Once in place, the new all-way stop is expected to improve both vehicle and pedestrian safety, reducing the likelihood of collisions and confusion for drivers.

Kern County Public Works is scheduled to install all-way stop signs at the intersection on Willow Springs and Highline roads.

The northbound and southbound traffic signs are scheduled to be installed on June 18, according to county officials. After they are installed, it will be an all-way stop.

The California Highway Patrol is scheduled to enforce the new stop signs, according to officials.

Changeable message signs are scheduled to be up for a week after the stop sign installation.
