New York: Summer EBT Benefits Begin in New York—$120 Per Eligible Child for Summer Groceries

The US government’s “SUN Bucks” program is called Summer EBT, and its goal is to fight child hunger and help families with kids in the US who need extra money to feed their kids during the summer.

These are food vouchers that families get every month. They can use them to buy food for their kids at certain supermarkets. This is because thousands of kids get food at school during the school year, but they don’t get it during the summer.

To join this plan, most kids are already enrolled automatically. For instance, if the family gets SNAP (food stamps), TANF (temporary assistance for needy families), or FDPIR (food distribution program on Indian reservations), they will get these summer coupons right away and don’t have to do anything.
