North Carolina Driver Faces Arrest After Crash Hurts 3 Children at Lemonade Stand

After a collision that caused a vehicle to go off the road and collide with three young girls who were operating a lemonade stand, a lady who is 24 years old has been charged with the incident.

On Tuesday, at approximately 1:20 p.m., the accident took place somewhat to the south of Morganton. Haley Erin McCorkle, a resident of Hickory, was attempting to make a left turn out of a driveway when she accidentally moved into the path of an approaching Nissan Altima, as reported by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

As a result of the incident, the Nissan was pushed off the road and into a front yard, which was just where three young girls, ages 7, 8, and 9, had established a lemonade stand for the coming afternoon. Both of them were in critical condition and were taken to hospitals in the surrounding area. The first two were transported by helicopter, and the third was transported by ambulance.

The accident did not result in any injuries to any of the drivers involved. There are now charges being brought against McCorkle for failing to surrender the right of way, which resulted in significant bodily injury. According to the state police, there is no evidence to suggest that either speed or impairment played a role in the collision.

The accident took place in an instant, according to members of the family of the girls who were hurt.

Elizabeth, the sister of one of the girls, stated, “I was right there, and it just happened so fast.” Elizabeth was present at the event. I just ran and got my mother,” she said.

The parents of the girls described the event as an incredibly terrible and heartbreaking experience. After witnessing what took place with the children, one father expressed that he was left feeling devastated.

He described his reaction as “just very traumatized to see something like that.”

Despite the suffering, the families expressed their gratitude that the situation was not far more severe.

“Be more careful, the more mindful that there are kids out of school for the summer and the little things like this, and just try to pay more attention,” said the mother of one of the young girls. “Be more mindful of the fact that there are kids out of school for the summer.” For the accident, I am unable to place blame on anyone. Mishaps are inevitable. Nevertheless, I was irritated by it. The only thing I could do was pray about it.

For approximately two hours, the road was stopped while the troopers conducted their investigation.
