The pregnant woman, who was 32 years old, was hit and dragged to her death by an SUV, according to the police on Sunday. The incident occurred after a late-night disagreement with the driver who fled the scene of the accident, who is still being sought by authorities.
The driver who was killed, identified by the police as Tiffany Cifuni, reportedly exited her 2021 Toyota 4Runner just before midnight on Saturday in order to examine the car for any signs of damage. This occurred after a minor collision with a 2016 Chevrolet Trax that occurred close to the intersection of Van Buren Street and Marcus Garvey Boulevard.
A spokesperson for the New York Police Department stated that the driver of the Trax then shot it, hit Cifuni from behind, and pulled her before speeding off down Lafayette Avenue, which is a thoroughfare that only goes in one direction.
After colliding with a parked Volkswagen SUV while attempting to flee, the Chevrolet next crashed into a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a woman who was 38 years old. The authorities said that the driver’s rampage was not ended, as the Chevrolet then crashed into the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
After that, the crazed individual got out of the vehicle and fled, leaving the Chevrolet with its temporary license plates behind. Cifuni, a resident of Long Island, was found unconscious by the police when they arrived at the scene after receiving a call to 911.
According to the officials, she was taken to Kings County Hospital, where she was pronounced dead after being transported there.
Cifuni’s in-laws were in a state of disbelief when they found out that she was in the first trimester of her pregnancy and that she and her husband James were expecting their first child. This news came just two weeks earlier.
It is asserted by the publication that the pregnant woman was murdered on her way back to her residence after seeing Beyoncé’s performance at MetLife Stadium.
During the incident, the driver of the Grand Cherokee did not sustain any serious injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet Trax is still in the area, according to the police.
