NYS Thruway Incident: Man Points Gun at State Troopers During Traffic Stop

A man from Rochester was caught after cops got into a car chase on the New York State Thruway.

A car was found off the road near I-90 in Pittsford on Thursday morning at 2:45 a.m. by the New York State Police. Anthony Caceres, 31, was said to be the man inside the car who refused to help the cops and was “verbally combative.”

Police said that when they tried to get closer to the car again, Caceres refused to assist and had a gun barrel pressed against the window, pointing at the police.

Caceres was arrested after calling for help and getting stuck. Because of the fight, the thruway was closed between Exits 45 and 46.

Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, menacing a police officer or peace officer, and second-degree obstructing government operations are the charges against Caceres.

The investigation remains ongoing.
