A police officer who wasn’t on duty got hurt Friday afternoon while controlling traffic for a building job.

It was around 2:30 p.m. when the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said officers were called to a major crash on westbound Interstate 20 at Dowdy Ferry Road.

When the deputies got there, they saw that a Hawk Cove Police officer had been hurt in the crash. Both the cop and the other person were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition.

We don’t know any more information about the accident or the damage.

At 3:45 p.m., the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said that two lanes of I-20 were closed and two lanes were open.

The small town of Hawk Cove is in Hunt County. It is east of Quinlan and close to Lake Tawakoni.
