One individual was killed and a New York State Trooper who was not on duty sustained significant injuries as a result of a head-on collision that occurred on State Highway 28 in the town of Delhi.
On Friday afternoon, just after four o’clock, the collision took place. Andes, New York resident Roger Hadley, 71 years old, was driving a pickup truck in the southbound direction when, for reasons that are not known, he crossed the double yellow line and crashed head-on with an SUV traveling in the northbound direction, as reported by the New York State Police.
The medical examiner pronounced Hadley deceased at the scene.
Trooper Anna Aulino, who had just concluded her shift and was traveling home in her personal vehicle, was seen driving the SUV. She was identified as the person who was behind the wheel. Aulino, who will graduate from the New York State Police Academy in 2023 and will be assigned to Troop C, sustained injuries that cannot be considered life-threatening but are critical. For medical attention, she was transported by helicopter to Albany Medical Center.
A comprehensive investigation into the collision is currently being carried out by the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit. Additionally, the Office of the Attorney General has been informed of the occurrence and is currently undertaking an investigation into it.
