Due to the possibility of severe weather, the O’Hare International Airport in Chicago has begun to implement a ground stop.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), all flights that were scheduled to depart for O’Hare are currently being held in their various airports. The delay is currently anticipated to continue until roughly 8 o’clock in the evening.
More showers and storms are developing to the west of the airport in northwestern Illinois, so there is a possibility that the stop will be extended there.
It has been reported by officials that departures from O’Hare Airport are also being delayed by an average of forty-five minutes as a result of the severe rain and lightning that has been occurring in the region.
Because of the possibility of persistent rain falling on the same areas of the Chicago area, multiple severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued across the region, and the whole region is still under a flood watch until seven o’clock on Friday morning.
