On Sunday afternoon, three people were sent to area hospitals with a variety of injuries as a consequence of a collision that occurred on Highway 101 north of the Nojoqui Summit. The collision involved two automobiles. During the time that emergency crews were responding to the incident, which was reported at 12:02 p.m., one lane was briefly stopped.
Officials from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department stated that the accident included a single vehicle that had drifted 10–20 feet over the side of the highway.
Two older people, a male and a female, were travelling in Vehicle #1, which incurred injuries ranging from slight to moderate severity. In order to receive medical attention, both persons were taken by ground ambulance to the emergency room of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
The driver of vehicle number two was an adult female, and she was the only occupant of the vehicle. She sustained minor injuries. A second ambulance was used to transport her to the emergency room of Santa Ynez Cottage Hospital. To everyone’s good fortune, none of the people engaged required any kind of rescue or rescue operations.
It is currently being investigated by the California Highway Patrol as to what caused the crash. At this point in time, it is not clear what contributing variables may have been involved in the disaster.
As a result of the temporary closure of the lane, automobile drivers in the vicinity suffered some small delays. The authorities are requesting that motorists continue to exercise caution and pay attention as they are travelling through the area while the investigation is ongoing.
