One Dead in Crash on Westheimer Road Following Police Traffic Stop Attempt

HOUSTON, Texas– According to the authorities, a guy was killed in a fiery collision because he was attempting to flee from police officers during a traffic stop that took place in west Houston on Monday.

According to the investigators, the local police in Memorial Villages attempted to pull over a vehicle because it did not have any tail lights, but the driver fled the scene.

When the same officers saw the vehicle once more, they made another attempt to pull the driver over, but he eventually drove away.

The Houston Police Department claims that Memorial Villages does not have a chase policy, which means that they do not pursue any individuals from the community.

According to the police, the suspect was driving down Westheimer, ran a red light near Fondre, and collided into other cars near Gessner, which caused the suspect’s vehicle to burst into flames. However, the officers did not pursue the suspect.

It is anticipated that those who were in the other vehicles involved would be fine after being transported to the hospital.

Sgt. Derrick Hall of the Houston Police Department stated that the officers who rushed to the incident attempted to put out the fire by using their fire extinguishers; however, they were unsuccessful, and the suspect passed away at the scene.

Due to the fact that the Memorial Villages police department does not have a policy about pursuit, they did not pursue him; however, they recognized him once more today. The question is, why did the suspect flee? We are not aware of this,” Hall stated.

The medical examiner’s office is currently seeking confirmation of the man’s identity before the authorities may proceed.
