In Orange County, a man was taken into custody and charged with the supposed act of human trafficking that involved a girl who was 16 years old.
Using information provided by the Anaheim Police Department, the suspect was recognized as Donald Newton, who is 46 years old and is from Las Vegas.
In the morning of May 30, the police received a call informing them of a teenage girl who was being held against her will by a suspect who was armed.
The victim was located by the officers who responded to the motel located on the 700 block of South Beach Boulevard in Anaheim. They then transported her to a secure location based on their findings.
Despite the fact that a loaded firearm was found in the room, the suspect was not located on the premises where the incident occurred.
Around two hours after determining that Newton was the primary suspect, detectives located him in Stanton and took him into custody. This occurred after they had identified Newton as the defendant.
After some time had passed, the District Attorney’s Office of Orange County charged him with the following:
- Misusing a child who is older than 16 years old
- Panting with a child who is older than sixteen years old
- Trafficking of a minor as a human being
- A convicted felon who is in possession of a firearm
- Ammunition owned by a person who is not authorized to possess it
- In the commission of a felony, three counts of personal use of a firearm
On bail of $500,000, Newton is still being held in custody. Neither additional information nor specifics, such as how the suspect had come into contact with the adolescent or how long she had been held against her will, were disclosed.
