Over 100 Undocumented Immigrants Arrested in Tallahassee Construction Site Raids

According to the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement system, more than one hundred undocumented workers were taken into custody on Thursday at construction sites in Tallahassee. One of these sites was an apartment complex located close to Florida State University.

At the construction site close to the university, state and federal law enforcement authorities placed construction workers in handcuffs and put them into vans before transporting them away from the location.

Perla at the Enclave is a building that is currently under construction, and the majority of it is going to be residences for Florida State University students.

According to a press statement that was published on the website of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the sweep was supported by a number of different law enforcement agencies.

There were over one hundred illegal aliens working at a job site in Florida, some of whom had been deported in the past and others who had a criminal record. According to the report, a person was taken into custody for resisting arrest and was being charged with four counts of assault on law enforcement officials.

In a statement that was prepared, Nicholas Ingegno, who is the assistant special agent in charge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations in Tallahassee, stated that the purpose of these types of enforcement actions is to eliminate illegal employment, hold employers accountable, and protect employment opportunities for the lawful workforce in the United States.

Larisa Cladakis, who works in the vicinity of the student housing that is currently being constructed, was opposed to the raid.

She made the statement that “they are human,” regardless of whether or not the workers who were arrested were documented. In addition, the fact of the matter is that they are, in fact, working. The dwellings that people are currently residing in are being constructed by them.
