Paterson man wanted for vehicle break-ins in Lodi was taken into custody by the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department.
According to Lodi Police Lieutenant Dominic Miller, on May 21, 2025, the Lodi Police Department responded to two separate properties in the vicinity of Pine Street and St. Joseph Blvd. regarding reports of automobiles that had been broken into. These addresses were located in separate locations. The information that was needed for the reports was gathered by the officers who responded, and then submitted to the Detective Division.
The Lodi Police Detectives instantly recognized the suspect, Matthew Jolls, 32, who was a previous resident of Lodi and is currently residing in Paterson, New Jersey. This identification was made possible by the study of house video surveillance data. The criminal warrant for Jolls’ arrest was issued after he was formally charged with burglary and criminal trespass. The warrant was issued for his arrest.
At approximately two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, May 29, 2025, the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department received a complaint concerning a male who appeared to be acting suspiciously while walking on the Boulevard. The individual was seen by the officers wandering in and out of businesses along the Boulevard while carrying an open container of beer throughout his movements. He was subsequently detained and taken to the Lodi Police Headquarters to be processed for the outstanding warrant. Jolls was identified as the individual who was stopped, and he was subsequently arrested.
