Pedestrian Fatally Struck by State Park Officer’s Vehicle in Livingston County, New York

Police Benevolent Association of New York State says that the off-duty New York State Park Police officer’s car hit and killed a woman in Livingston County. The New York State Police and the New York State Attorney General’s Office are now looking into the case.

The 63-year-old woman was crossing Main Street in York around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday when she was hit by a car going north. The police said she was dead at the scene.

The PBA said the cop, who state police named as 52-year-old Brian Royston from Greece, was driving his own car on York’s Main Street after his shift was over when the accident happened.

State police said Royston stayed at the scene and called 911, and officers did not see any signs that he was impaired.

He has worked for the New York State Park Police for 20 years and is a member of the PBA.

Because he is a cop, the New York State Police and the Office of the Attorney General of New York State are looking into what happened.

The PBA of New York State wants the victim’s family to know how sorry we are and how sorry we are for their loss. While we wait for more information from the review, we don’t have anything else to say at this time.
