According to the announcement made by his family, Phil Robertson, who became famous for his role as the patriarch of the Robertson family on the popular reality show “Duck Dynasty,” has passed away. He was 79 years old.
“Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus,” the relatives of the deceased posted on social media. “We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again.”
No quick explanation was provided for the reason of death. On the podcast that the Robertson family produces, Jase Roberton, one of Phil Robertson’s sons, disclosed in December that his father was in the “early stages” of Alzheimer’s disease.
On Sunday, Jase Robertson posted a message on social media in which she said, “He will be missed, but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good!” The two of us will meet again!
Sadie Robertson Huff, Phil Robertson’s granddaughter, sent a message on Instagram that read, “One of the last things he said to me was ‘full strength ahead!’ Amen!”
As a high school quarterback, Phil Robertson went on to play at Louisiana Tech, where he was notable for starting ahead of Terry Bradshaw, who would go on to win four Super Bowls and be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Robertson started ahead of Bradshaw between the years 1966 and 1967.
In the years that followed, Phil Robertson would go on to develop and patent the Duck Commander duck call, which would also become the name of the business that he established in the early 1970s. In addition to duck calls, the company expanded its product line to include a wide range of other items sold under other brand names. These products included fishing equipment, deer calls, and even vehicle accessories on the market. Willie Robertson, Phil Robertson’s son, is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the corporation.
Beginning in 2012 and continuing until 2017, the reality show “Duck Dynasty” on A&E tracked the lives of the members of the Robertson family, bringing them to the forefront of public attention.
When Phil Robertson stated that homosexuality was “sinful” and discussed it in conjunction with bestiality in an interview with GQ magazine in 2013, the network temporarily suspended him from his position. After much deliberation, A&E finally gave in and lifted his ban, and the suspension did not influence any episodes of the show.
Everyone in Phil Robertson’s family was a staunch supporter of conservative ideology. During the Republican primary election in 2016, Phil Robertson initially supported Ted Cruz. However, he eventually stated that he would support President Trump once he gained the candidacy of the party. As for Mr. Trump, Phil Robertson voted for him over former Vice President Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
