For approximately six weeks, personnel will be working to put deck beams for a concrete covering as part of the I-95 CAP project. During this time, the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 and the ramp from eastbound Interstate 676 will be closed.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), these closures will be in force from Sunday through Thursday, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., and they are anticipated to continue until Friday, July 18.
It is planned that the following portions of the road will be closed during this time:
- I-95 in Center City, including all of the southbound lanes.
- The exit ramp from the eastbound lanes of Interstate 676.
- The left lane, sometimes known as the inside lane, on northbound Interstate 95 between Spruce Street and Market Street.
In the event that you are traveling southbound on Interstate 95 while the closures are in effect, you will be rerouted to use the junction with Interstate 676, then make a left turn onto Callowhill Street, and finally make a right turn into Columbus Boulevard. This will allow you to use the ramp that offers access to southbound Interstate 95 at East Morris/Water streets.
You will be rerouted to exit at 6th Street, turn left into Race Street, and then turn right onto southbound Columbus Boulevard in order to get onto I-95 and East Morris/Water streets if you are going eastbound on Interstate 676 and want to drive southbound on Interstate 95 during the closures.
