A male who was 35 years old was killed after exchanging gunfire with El Paso Police on the afternoon of June 1 in the Upper Valley of El Paso, according to the El Paso Police Department in a statement.
An instance of family violence was reported to have occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Sunday along the 6400 block of Passo Via in the Upper Vallley. The police were called out to investigate the situation.
The suspect, who has since been named as Salvador Valdiviezo, began firing at policemen with a revolver as the officers approached the residence, according to the police reporting.
Both cops returned fire, and Valdiviezo was hit multiple times despite their efforts. According to the police, he was taken to a hospital, but he did not survive his stay there.
One of the officers was shot, and they were taken to the hospital, where they are currently in stable condition. Only a female cop who has been with the department for two years at this point has been recognized by the police as the officer in question.
Additionally, the other officer who was involved in the incident has been employed by the agency for a period of five years.
Investigations into the incident are being carried out simultaneously by three different agencies: the Texas Rangers, the Crimes Against Persons Unit of the El Paso Police Department, and the Internal Affairs department.
