The cops say that a teacher at Hialeah Senior High School had a sexual and romantic relationship with one of his students. The teacher has been charged.
Misael Gonzalez, 55, of Plantation, was arrested on Tuesday. He will be fired from his job as an English teacher at the school, according to a statement from Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
An arrest report says that the victim was in Gonzalez’s 10th-grade English class and was 15 years old when they started dating.
The victim told the cops she would talk to Gonzalez about her problems with her dad, the report said. “Romantic” talk turned into touching, and Gonzalez started touching the victim’s body, including her private parts, while she was dressed.
“The victim stated how the defendant would tell her they were in a boyfriend and girlfriend (romantic) relationship and how they loved one another,” the report stated.
Then, from September to February, Gonzalez and the victim had several sex acts in different classes on campus.
The victim told the cops that she and Gonzalez never talked on the phone or through email. The victim took pictures with Gonzalez on her phone at one point, and he told her to get rid of them because “the ghosts of his past were coming back to haunt him,” according to the report.
Police say that the victim and Gonzalez stopped meeting on campus at some point. In January, they skipped school and spent the day at the beach. Gonzalez picked her up at school so she could get out on time.
The story said that after she turned 16, they missed one more day of school in February. They took the victim to a park and had their first sex there.
According to the police report, Gonzalez is being charged with several crimes, such as lewd and lascivious battery, child abuse, molestation, and having sexual contact with a minor without permission.
“Miami-Dade County Public Schools is troubled by the disturbing claims made against this person.” “As soon as Miami-Dade Schools Police heard about this possible behavior, they started their investigation right away and later made an arrest,” the district said in a statement on Tuesday. “This kind of behavior won’t be accepted because it goes against what we expect all of our employees to do as professionals.” The District has started the process of firing the person and will make sure that person can’t apply for any other jobs with the District in the future.
