The grandfather from Santa Ana was shot and killed near a liquor shop, and his family wants to know what happened.
Armando Salcido, who was known ine his community as ‘Gramps’, was shot and killed on Sunday at the Bottle Liquor & Spirits on West 1st Street. Since then, more and more candles, beer cans, and photos have been added to the monument that has been built at the shooting site.
“We’re not at peace or at peace with what happened,” the victim’s daughter Desaray Salcido said. “We are still wondering what to do.” I want to speak up for my dad and be the fire in his case.
For the past week, Salcido’s family has gone to the memorial spot every day to pray for him. People in the neighbourhood said he was a constant and that many people loved him.
His stepson, Frank Cruz, said, “He was a good person.” “He looked out for us and worked hard to do so.”
He was friendly with the owners of the liquor shop and was known to hang out there. His family and friends said he liked having people over and would help break down boxes while he was there.
The owner of the liquor shop, Mark Sabbhagh, said, “If someone didn’t have enough money, he would pay for them.” “It breaks my heart to see people die like that.” “My heart is really, really sad.”
The probe is still going on.
The Santa Ana cops said they don’t have a good picture of the gunman. The murder weapon has not been found.
