Rescue Operation Saves 42 Lives as 10 Boats Go Down Near Anclote Key, Florida

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office says that several groups helped save 42 people who were trapped on 10 boats due to bad weather on Saturday afternoon off the western coast of Florida.

Saturday around 1:30 p.m., the PSO’s Marine Unit got calls for help from 10 sunken boats, three at Anclote Sandbar and seven at Anclote Island.

When the first rescuers got there, everyone from the boats was already on land.

During the episode, one woman got hurt slightly, and the Pasco County Fire Rescue took her to safety. The authorities said that no one else had been hurt or was missing.

As part of the water rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard, Pasco County Fire Rescue, Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue, Palm Harbor Fire Rescue, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit, and SeaTow all pitched in.
