Two people, both of whom were from the surrounding area, were killed in separate car accidents on Eastside Highway last week, according to the Virginia State Police.
Rockingham County was the location of one of the collisions, while Augusta County was the location of the other.
At 6:45 in the morning on June 11, police reported that a collision that occurred on South Eastside Highway in Rockingham County resulted in the death of Adonis W. Boykin, who was 26 years old and from Waynesboro.
According to the police, Boykin was driving a 2000 Subaru Forester in the direction of northbound traffic when the vehicle went off the right side of the road and down an embankment before colliding with a tree not far from the intersection of Treeland Lane. Boykin was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Sadly, Boykin passed away at the scene. The police have stated that fatigue is being investigated as a potential contributing factor in the collision.
A 2011 Ford Escape SUV was traveling southbound along Eastside Highway near Stull Run Lane when it went off the left side of the road, according to the police. The incident occurred the following day, on June 12, just before 4 o’clock in the afternoon. After colliding with a ditch, the SUV then went over an embankment.
Critical injuries were sustained by the driver, Jaimee B. Good, who is 33 years old and hails from Crimora. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where the authorities reported that she passed away. In this instance, Good was not wearing a seat belt.
According to the investigation, the crash is still ongoing.
