Santa Rosa Man and His 3 Children Seriously Injured in Crash Near Downtown

On Tuesday, Santa Rosa police said they are looking into a crash that happened on Monday and badly hurt a man and his three children.

A red 2002 Honda Odyssey minivan and a white 2019 Ford Ranger owned by the city of Santa Rosa were in an accident at 2:30 p.m. near West 3rd Street and Arboleda Drive.

Police say the minivan driver was going east on West 3rd Street in the left lane when he switched to the right lane to get around two cars.

A Ford Ranger in the right lane started to move to the left around the same time. This is because the road narrows to one lane. Police say the driver of the minivan tried to pass the Ford Ranger as they met and hit the back left corner of the truck with the front right corner of the minivan.

The minivan then hit two trees in the middle of the road.

Police said the driver of the minivan was a 44-year-old guy from Santa Rosa, and that his three boys were also in the car.

His 12-year-old, 11-year-old, and 5-year-old children were all badly hurt. Police say the 5-year-old was in a booster seat in the front passenger seat. The 11-year-old was in the second row behind the driver, and the 12-year-old was in the third row behind his brother.

Police said the man is still in critical condition at a local hospital and the boys are seriously hurt at a hospital in the Bay Area.

Officials from the city said that the worker wasn’t drunk or high at the time of the accident and didn’t need any medical care.

They said, “due to the medical condition of the minivan driver, additional investigation is required to determine if he was impaired.”

The crash is still being looked into.
