Stabbing Near Five Guys in Northeast D.C. Sends Two Teen Girls to Hospital

Two teens were stabbed on Monday afternoon, according to officials from the Metropolitan Police Department.

At around 1:23 p.m., officers from the Fifth District responded to a report of a stabbing in a strip mall on the 2400 block of Market Street, Northeast.

Upon arrival, officers found two teen girls who were conscious and breathing, both suffering from stab wounds.

The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. near the popular burger chain located on the 1300 block of H Street NE. Authorities say an altercation broke out involving a group of teens, during which the two girls were stabbed.

Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene and transported both victims to a nearby hospital. Officials report that the girls suffered non-life-threatening injuries and are currently in stable condition.

The identities of the victims have not been released due to their ages. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as bystanders called for help and attempted to assist the injured teens before first responders arrived.

Police say the suspect fled the area on foot and remains at large. Investigators are reviewing nearby surveillance footage and asking anyone with information to come forward.

No motive has been confirmed, but authorities are looking into whether the incident was connected to an ongoing dispute.

The Metropolitan Police Department has increased patrols in the area as a precaution.
